Tepco to raise their salary up to 16%

On 6/13/2014, Tepco’s president, Hirose announced to raise salary of the employees.

They have reduced the salary by 30% for managers and 20% for general posts since 2012. These will be raised by 16% and 13% before this July.

Tepco states the cost-reduction project has been progressing faster than expected, so they can afford to raise the salary. They also explained, having over 1,600 employees resign voluntarily since 311, they need to stop the further hollowing out of human resources.

They start with the employees in charge of Fukushima compensation and decommissioning, and plan to raise salary of other employees as well.

      1. He is referring to the infamous “Mission Accomplished” speech by the former President George W. Bush, if i have that right.

Quote: “The 2003 Mission Accomplished speech gets its name from a banner that read “Mission Accomplished” displayed on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during a televised address by United States President George W. Bush on May 1, 2003 and the controversy that followed.”

        . https ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission_Accomplished_speech

It stands as a chilling parallel to the fiasco known as “Cold Shutdown” at Fukushima “Die-itchy”.

The latest i hear is that the ISIS rebels are now the richest terrorist organization on the planet, after recent hostile acquisitions in Iraq (formerly 4th largest military on planet before 1990). Has the “mission” been accomplished now that a carrier task-group is heading back to the Gulf?

        What then of “Cold Shutdown”?

        2. Cold shutdown is a precise state and the plant achieved that ages ago. I’derather hear it from bill duff. Sounds to me like he now thinks tepco planned all this.

          1. “Cold Shutdown” was a bad joke and is reminiscant of “Mission Accomplished”.

Quote: “The sight of steam rising is worrying because it means somewhere inside the reactor building water is boiling, says the BBC’s Rupert Wingfield-Hayes in Tokyo.

Th badly damaged reactors are supposed to be in what is called “cold shutdown”; the temperature of the cooling water inside the reactor should be well below boiling point.

It is another sign that Tepco still does not fully know what is going on inside the damaged reactors”

            . http ://enenews.com/bbc-boiling-inside-fukushima-unit-3-reactors-supposed-be-cold-shutdown-situation-worrying

          2. Ah, you wanted Mr. Duff to explain the “Mission Accomplished” comment.

Are you referring to the stupifying argument for Stuxnet having caused the Fukushima-Daiichi & 14 other sites so much grief? Well, it was the earthquake that severed cooling water from the ocean, removing the ultimate heat sink. The tsunami didn’t help matters, to say the least.

Where do you plug the usb stick in to such an old reactor to “infect” it, anyhow? Is it nearer the closest bank of vacuum tubes, perhaps?

Executives now pocket the hard-won earnings of taxpayers out of money they haven’t even begun to earn yet. It would not surprise me in the slightest that this must be immensly unpopular in Japan. That & the spin-off division of TEPCO to be left in charge of the business of “decomissioning” (bankruptcy fodder) before the responsibility ultimately becomes taxpayers’.

            1. A TOTAL DISASTER

The superannuated, under-contained, corroded, vugged-up, inadequately-redundant General Electric Mark-1 design-disasters; were originally controlled by discrete electronics. Certain cobbled together, poorly designed ‘retrofits’ such as the 100% failure rate ‘ventilation-system’; included more modern digital control systems.

Some of the Fukushima poorly configured modern-garbage included the Siemens Adjustable Speed Drive Systems; which included STUXNET susceptible systems.

It ALL failed at Fukushima. Open Air Reactors with 100 Ton Corium Slugs, melted through to basement and/or groundwater; are NOT and can NOT be in ‘Cold Shutdown’.

The Japan, TEPCO, Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station is the biggest cockup in Human History. And they are numbered among, the largest assemblage of lying Incompetent Morons, in the Modern World.

              1. Ha, he said stuxnet. Just a matter of time before he moves on to nazi zombies, illuminati and rectal probing space aliens.

                1. I’ve also added ‘the biggest cockup in Human History’ to my list of Bill Duffisms.

              2. Do you know of when & where the Siemens Adjustable Speed Drive Systems were included?

There should at least be some record of Regulatory approval.

                1. Siemens PAID AREVA $600M to TAKE the Siemens Nuclear Division partnership interest. AND Germany shut down ALL their General Electric Mark-1 nuclear reactors. The Germans also pledged to entirely decommission all remaining nuclear reactors by a date certain.

There were numerous reports of Siemens ASD Control equipment failing, ALL OVER THE WORLD, while in Emergency Operating Mode.

Most of the computers on EARTH, at one time had one of the STUXNET viruses in their memory. Only the Siemens equipment was susceptible. There was a lot on this; in 2011.

Siemens is no longer a player on ‘Team Nuke’. That problem is SOLVED, one way or the other.

                  1. “Only the Siemens equipment was susceptible.”

Quote: “Stuxnet worm in both Siemens and non-Siemens network environments.”

It was several models of Siemens PLC’s that were vulnerable.

Quote: “LAS VEGAS—A security researcher has uncovered a slew of vulnerabilities in Siemens industrial control systems, including a hardcoded password, that would let attackers reprogram the systems with malicious commands to sabotage critical infrastructures and even lock out legitimate administrators.”

“Since then, he discovered additional vulnerabilities in several models of Siemens PLCs that would variously allow attackers to bypass authentication protection in the PLCs and reprogram them, or issue a “stop” command to halt them. They all require the attacker to have access to the network on which the PLCs run.”

                    1. Gone where? Dead horse? What models?
Let’s find them in the support documents, to know for certain.

                      http ://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&aktprim=0&siteid=cseus&lang=en&siteid=cseus&extranet=standard&viewreg=WW&groupid=4000003

                    2. Quote: ““Anything before October 2009, for the PLCs, in terms of the S7-300, would be affected by the hardcoded password,” Beresford said.

Finally, Beresford also found an Easter egg in two versions of the S7-300 PLC firmware—versions 2.3.2 and 2.3.4. It’s an html file that depicts a handful of dancing chimpanzees and a German proverb that is the equivalent of the English phrase, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

Siemens was not aware the Easter egg was in the firmware. “They weren’t exactly happy,” Beresford said. “Considering where these devices are deployed, they didn’t think it was very funny.””

        3. Now i remember what was striking at the time of xP-GWB’s speech, it was that came three months after the Columbia Disaster (what atmospheric phenomenon were they studying?).

          “Mission Accomplished”. Yikes!

          1. Title: “Mission accomplished and the list of the missing nuclear workers”

December 15th, 2011 Quote: “there are 840 “missing” workers officially.”

  1. I’m sure all of those employees resigned strictly because of compensation. No moral qualms possible.

  2. Let us swear while we may, for in Heaven it will not be allowed.
    – Notebook, 1898

e began with that word “H”. That’s a long word and a profane word. I don’t remember what the word was now, but I recognized the power of it. I had never used that language myself, but at that moment I was converted. It has been a great refuge for me in time of trouble. If a man doesn’t know that language he can’t express himself on strenuous occasions. When you have that word at your command let trouble come.
    – Speech, 19 February 1908

All through the first ten years of my married life I kept a constant and discreet watch upon my tongue while in the house, and went outside and to a distance when circumstances were too much for me and I was obliged to seek relief. I prized my wife’s respect and approval above all the rest of the human race’s respect and approval. I dreaded the day when she should discover that I was but a whited sepulcher partly freighted with suppressed language. I was so careful, during ten years, that I had not a doubt that my suppressions had been successful. Therefore I was quite as happy in my guilt as I could have been if I had been innocent.

Profanity is more necessary to me than is immunity from colds.

When you’re mad, count four; when you’re very mad, swear! But most of us don’t wait to count four! at least I don’t!

“Something serious is going on”. Horse ranch owner worries alarming conditions of horses in Iitate, Fukushima

15 foals have been born since the beginning of this year, but 14 of them died within a month, sometimes within a week. “I have lived with horses since I was a kid, but I have never seen anything like this. It’s not normal. I think radiation is responsible for this”. Hosokawa stresses the effect of radiation as a cause. Of course he doesn’t have proper scientific grounds to support his idea, but his long relationship with horses gives him the instinctive feeling.

Siemens is GONE, so why kick a dead horse?

    1. Siemens is gone? There’s a link to their support i provided a while ago. What models could have possibly been installed? Stuxnet was something model-dependent, neh?

If horse fertility is like that in that area, then what of human fertility? No public updated stats.

Also, you do not have to shortern your links like that. For the sake of poster & reader alike.

      https ://startpage.com – for instance.

      1. As indicated (repeatedly) earlier … Siemens is gone from the civilian nuclear power industry.

Stuxnet was reportedly written by Mossad and the CIA to disrupt high speed centrifuges in the Iran nuclear weapon program.

The operational mechanisms of the Stuxnet malware are NOT device specific. The signals between the driver and driven are scrambled, during emergency operation mode. The System level control computer, ASD and PLC signals work at cross purposes.

ASD tells control, motor is hot and is now slowing down. ASD tells motor – speed up. etc. The coupled equipment and motor are rapidly spun to pieces.

Meanwhile at the control room; it is ‘all systems go’.

A deliberate digital miscommunication. Stuxnet is industrial sabotage; a field of endeavor which Siemens AG has routinely practiced. Hoist on their own petard.

But Siemens is no longer a member of ‘Team Nuke’; so Siemens does not matter in the least, here anymore; on this forum.

        1. Quote: “The operational mechanisms of the Stuxnet malware are NOT device specific.”

The distributive mechanisms are certainly not that picky, unless perhaps in a virtual environment.
But in order to capture a PLC, it need not exist on a network if site-security is compromised. They don’t all speak the same machine-language (as far as i know).

Are you saying it was all legacy Siemens PLC’s that were “digital swiss-cheese?” If so, could you please provide a link or a source.

          1. Dead Horse.

The GE, Mark-1 Power Plants at Fukushima Daiichi were constructed with DISCRETE Electronic Controls. There is no susceptibility to Stuxnet in those systems, unless retrofitted with Siemens modern Adjustable Speed Drives, controllers and/or PLCs; as they did not exist.

Siemens Nuclear apparently provided some axillary equipment on the Daiichi site; and the Stuxnet Virus was reportedly found. These matters were all over the Blogosphere, in 2011 and I had the links. It is simply not worth ANY effort do dredge up those links. Most of them are probably dead by now anyway.

Subsequent to 311, Germany shut down all their oldest nuclear reactors and set timetables to shut down the rest of them. Siemens paid AREVA to take their Nuclear Division. I have no idea what you are talking about, with respect to Siemens ‘legacy’ equipment.

  4. They must be paying for burial expense because all of them probably have cancer now.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
