Recently I got back the habit to devote myself into work as I’m listening to the music. Wake up, research, chase news, and make articles, and go to bed. I’m in a city of central Europe but I didn’t come here for sightseeing.

I think I won’t have such a chance to be able to commit into this job without worrying about apartment rent of regular job for the rest of my life, and I can even help people.

Usually I spend 90% of time on research and 10% on writing. Because I’m on the other side of Japan, things go on while I’m sleeping. so catching up with news is a little hard.

I’ve been having the problem of streaming on my computer. Today the browser finally crashed and it took me 2 hours to fix, it was such a waste but now I can stream ustream with no problem.

made stew for dinner. Recently I make stew all the time.lol Beef was only 3.40 Euro for 1 kg, it’s extremely cheap compared to Japan. and now it’s really difficult to get un-becquereled food in Japan.

Here it’s been very cold, and cloudy. It was rainy today. was such a good day to read a book being away from work. but I’m hesitating to buy a book from Japan because they are contaminated too. Reading a book in protective clothing is not very confortable.

I used to buy a book weekly, about economics, psychology, philosophy, biology and mathematics etc.. I miss those book shops.

Though I didn’t have socks, I had a lot of books but had to throw them away. I took some in my suits case but they required me to throw them away at Narita airport. and it was the mistake of the airline staff but my books were already in the bin…lol

I think those books of my taste will be slow to be on kindle too.

  1. Have you looked into Grants or Sponsorship from one of the American anti-nuclear NGO’s or Non-profits? I would think someone like you that would be willing to move to the states would be a fairly hot commodity. Just your ability to translate Japanese to English should be of value these days.

    I would start here

    http://www.ploughshares.org/what-we-do/apply-grant

Just explain your situation and show them what you’ve done so far and tell what you need to continue … At least get something to cover the website and internet access costs

  2. Hi Mochizuki-san,

Thank you for your hard work, you’re the only one giving true and detailed information about what’s going on in Japan…I lived in Tokyo for 1 1/2 year (in Itabashi-ku), I have great memories there so it hurts me so much to think I may not be able to return in Ikebukuro before many years…if ever…

I read in your article that you don’t want to buy books from Japan because they are contaminated, could you give me more information about that? I receive books/magazines from Japan so I’ve been trying to find information about the risks of them being contaminated but I couldn’t find any…

    Thank you very much!

  3. [****** If you need books from Paris you can send me a mail. ******]
In Paris you can go to Book-Off and buy second-hand books printed before last year. Even in the other Japanese bookshops in Paris you can probably find books that they have in stock for a long time. There is also the Japanese cultural center which includes a nice library, where you can read, rent and photocopy books.
You can also be patient and wait until most Japanese books will be available as digital files.
You can also read books in English.
And think about what will happen to Japanese publishing houses if everybody evacuates ! Japanese books may become scarce for quite some time.

  4. ‘they required me to throw them away at Narita airport.’

    Very strange… For what reason?

  5. 🙁 Sorry they are not on kindle. I was totally going to suggest it! Silly of me to think you hadn’t thought of it.

That’s just a plain ole bummer. I never thought about it before, but this radiation poses a real threat actually to Japanese literature in terms of the surviving refugees. :/

Hopefully a Japanese person in the motherland will realize this and find it in their heart to help correct the situation.

  6. Hello Dear Friend,
We are all friends now as the earth dies of radiation posioning.

You are doing a VERY GOOD JOB FOR THE WORLD. PEOPLE ARE READING THIS DAILY,
    you must be strong.
I wish you donations exceeding what you need monthly, b/c your work needs to go on.
PLEASE, I beg of those who can give,,I cant, I am sorry, please give to this gentle soul, who is trying to help us!!

The USA, most of them, do not even know that they are getting poisoned dailiy with Japan
radiation, much less what is happeneing in Japan. There is a total media blackout here in the west, about the radiation, on the news. But rest assured Dear Friend, there are those behind you, and those like me, who know the truth, and the truth is the RADIATION PROBLEM FROM JAPAN IS MUCH MUCH WORSE THAN PEOPLE ARE REALIZING, for us in the USA!

Also, we must as a civlization move everybody out of Japan ASAP!, to insure the survival
    of the Japanese race.

GOD BLESS YOU! however, god can not save us now, only by protesting against nuclear power plants can we stop this MADNESS! WE MUST VOTE OUT ANY POLITIAN WHO SUPPORTS NUCLEAR POWER!
    POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

Save yourself, grow your own food, in a greenhouse protected by rain, and wind, and
learn to self sustain,,no government is going to help you or save you!!!!!

PEACE is the only way,,,Peace thru Wisdom

    1. I check this blog every 2 hours… even when I can’t sleep.

Well, have a nice day though.
Oh, and also, I got myself hands on to a grape flavored Mentos from JP. Is it safe? (Well, guess it’s too late then if the answer is no, ate all of it…)

      Greetings from the Netherlands.

  7. I am a student in Japanese university and my major is Japanese literature. On the top of that my occupation of choice is translator of Japanese literature. Japanese bookstores are lovely, aren’t they.

The same in four short words: I feel your pain.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
