Research fund for the study of Fukushima biological impacts on the pale grass blue butterfly was cut

In citizens’ court for nuclear power, Dr. Matsui stated the research fund for the study of biological impacts due to Fukushima nuclear accident on the pale grass blue (Zizeeria maha) butterflies was cut off.

The event was held in Fukushima on 6/8/2013.

Dr. Matsui talked because of the cut on research fund, the researching team cannot conduct genetic analysis for the descendant of the butterflies possibly affected by radiation, which may prove Fukushima effect on human body.

He stated this is probably how they pressure the researching team.

The researching team is in Ryukyu university.

It is probably the study that published the report “The biological impacts of the Fukushima nuclear accident on the pale grass blue butterfly” on Scientific Reports of Nature.com last year. [Link]

In this report, they showed severe abnormalities found in the pale grass blue (Zizeeria maha) butterflies collected in Fukushima area, which had major media coverage of international media such as BBC, CNN and CBS news.

Japanese can stay as long as they need without visa and any equivalent certificate in Svalbard island (North of Norway). They can come and stay with no legal restriction. In order to research the place, proper equipment is necessary.

Il s’agit de l’étude rapportée dans l’article scientifique “The biological impacts of the Fukushima nuclear accident on the pale grass blue butterfly” publié l’an dernier dans la revue scientifique Nature. [Lien]

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
