[3 times worse]

Data collected by the Japan Nuclear Energy Research and Development Organization and other groups has been used to calculate that the amount of radiation released into the Ocean from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear crisis from March 21st to April 30th reached 15,000 tera bequerels.

[That, ladies and gentlemen, is 15 peta bequerels or 15,000,000,000,000]

TEPCO said that the release of highly contaminated water containing radioactive materials (Cesium and Iodine) into the ocean between April 1st to April 6th near the Unit 2 water intake was 4700 tera bequerels. Although the time period was different, the new calculations above are a 3-fold increase over the previous numbers. Kobayashi Takuya, an assistant manager at a nuclear power agency said that “This may indicate that there is another route through which radioactive materials leaked out”.

[Don’t eat anything from North Japan]

Chubu University professor Kunihiko Takeda reportedly stated on a Yomiuri TV program on the afternoon of Sept. 4 that “eating vegetables and meat from the Tohoku region will ruin your health,” and that “making agricultural products in Tohoku right now is a mistake.”

In my daughters kindergarten the children do each fall sweet potatoe digging. Im am relieved, that it is canceled this year. Apparently it was scheduled as usual, but the farmers seem to have said that “because the soil is contaminated, at least five years there should not be potato digging”. I think these farmers really showed a great mind. Respect!

It was written in the newspaper, that the inhabitants flew from the affected areas. This is a thing that everybody knows. Not only the affected areas but also the metropolitan area of Tokyo is left by resettlers, the way “rats are leaving a rotten boat that is sinking”. The few inhabitants that remain live as if they would know nothing about the disaster in the Fukushima prefecture. Because there is no other way to live there.

[34% “want to move”]

Despite of what the article says, the only 51% of families with kid(s) younger than 15 y/o, want to move out of FUKUSHIMA area. Only 34% of families want to move out of Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate prefectures. Asahi news and Kyoudou research service conducted this survey by phone calls….. I think it is BS.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
