Large mammals die in rapid succession in Ueno Zoological Gardens from tumor, heart failure etc..

Polar bear, harbor seal, giraffe and Sumatran tiger have died since last November in Ueno Zoological Gardens.

The succession of death started with a polar bear. It was male, died on 11/25/2014 from acute pancreatitis. Before a month passed, a female harbor seal died of septicemia on 12/8/2014 as Ueno Zoological Gardens announced. It was 7 years old. The average life span is approx. 30 years.

 

This January, a female giraffe was found dead in the morning of 1/7/2015. It was 17 years old, didn’t show any symptom until the previous day. They found the cause of death was heart failure from an autopsy.

2 days after, a male Sumatran tiger died of multiple organ failure caused by tumor. It was 17 years old, has been having medication since 12/22/2014.

 

Ueno Zoological Gardens announced the causes of death are different from case to case to deny the possible connection of each death.

Une série rapide de morts de grands mammifères au Parc Zoologique d’Ueno, tumeurs, arrêt cardiaque, etc.

 

Un ours polaire, un phoque, une girafe et un tigre de Sumatra sont morts au Parc Zoologique d’Ueno depuis novembre dernier.

La succession de décès a commencé par l’ours polaire. C’était un mâle, il est mort le 25 novembre 2014 d’une pancréatite aiguë. Moins d’un mois plus tard, un phoque femelle est morte d’une septicémie, le 8 décembre 2014 selon ce que le Ueno Zoological Gardens a annoncé. Elle avait 7 ans. Leur espérance de vie moyenne est de 30 ans environ.

En ce mois de janvier 2015, une girafe femelle a été retrouvée morte au matin du 7 . Elle avait 17 ans, elle n’avait présenté aucun symptôme avant la veille. Ils ont établi par autopsie que la cause de sa mort est un arrêt cardiaque.
2 jours plus tard, un tigre de Sumatra mâle est mort de multiples dysfonctionnements d’organes dus à des tumeurs. Il avait 17 ans, il était sous traitement depuis le 22 décembre 2014.

Le Ueno Zoological Gardens a déclaré que les causes des décès étaient différentes d’un cas à l’autre pour nier tout lien possible entre elles.

They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
