so shocked. Living in Wakayama, cesium was measured from the urine of my oldest son (12~13 years old).  It’s been one year since we evacuated from Fukushima. We avoid Fukushima food at home, but let my children have school lunch and milk. Also I let them eat snack from supermarkets. For the beginning, we shall stop them eating milk and snack..

It’s the parent’s fault. We had already been exposed when we evacuated, and we had low dose symptoms by eating Fukushima rice, but we became too careless since we evacuated to western Japan. We paid so much attention, but School lunch, milk and snack were the blind spots.

I shall report it to the school, stop them having milk and snack, and see what’s going to happen. It costs too much to have another urine test..maybe I have to stop them having school lunch too ?

I had the urine tested of the oldest child and the youngest child. For the oldest one, the detectable amount was 0.059bq/kg, and the actual amount was 0.081 Bq/kg. It was ND for the youngest child but the detectable amount was 0.089 Bq/Kg because it was too costly. Probably it would have been positive if it was the same detectable amount. I shouldn’t have tried to save 20,000 yen.. but I better think we are all contaminated the same.

My mother (80), living in Kashiwa Chiba had nosebleed. A doctor who has visited Chernobyl for several times, held symposium in Fukushima told it’s Petkau effect. It’s  a low dose symptom. It has nothing to do with the age.

About the school lunch, it is made by a company in Osaka, mixed with Hokkaido food and Western Japanese food. They measure radiation level but the detectable amount is 400 Bq/kg, if the dietician wasn’t wrong.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
