[Column] I started the Japanese version of Fukushima Diary

I started the Japanese version of Fukushima Diary.

Nothing changes to English readers, but I would love to explain what I wrote in the Japanese column above.

Fukushima blogs are getting less and less even in Japanese blogosphere.

Fukushima Diary started in order to inform the world of what’s really going-on in Japan and get some help to Japan. However I thought now I need to fill the blank of news by “importing” Fukushima Diary to Japanese blogosphere.

When I started this blog, there were a lot of Japanese blogs to write about Fukushima, and they were much better than me.

As time passed, some of them were “absorbed” by some minor political organization, some just left, some became unable to catch up with the situation.

A lot of people have been asking me to do the Japanese blog. I have tried that actually, twice in 2012, but didn’t really have a feedback then.

It’s Christmas season. Everyone asks me if I don’t miss Japan. In reality, I’m rather scared of Japan.

This is not just me. A lot of Japanese, especially mothers with little kids, are afraid of where Japan is heading for.

This changed my mind.

The Japanese version of Fukushima Diary can’t be just a collection of translated articles. It must feature the information about “evacuation”, how it actually is to live outside of Japan, and how I am living in Romania, etc.. Sure the tone and the focus of each article must be modified too.

but it’s only for a part of Fukushima Diary readers. so I decided to post it on the special page of Facebook and Tumblr.

For the increased volume of the work, I ask them for 7$~ of donation. but that’s not a monthly subscription or anything because this is about their “life”.

You see the pink letters on the right side of the page. This is the donation corner for paypal.

I know Fukushima information makes you depressed. Nobody wants to read if they can skip. so it can’t be a business, but I hope someone’s kid says, “I was saved because of someone’s blog about Fukushima” when he / she grows up.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
