[Column] How Tepco is treated in nuclear industry

I personally think it should be the national duty of Japanese people to watch Tepco and NRA press conference and open meeting ( with higher priority than manipulated election). Fukushima accident is literally the bigest problem of Japan, which may cause the biological / financial end of the country.

On 1/27, NRA held the group meeting of sea contamination commission.
What impressed me in a way was those experts.

They are the invited experts of radiation measurement, ocean current monitoring, marine creatures etc.. Probably most of the people would think they are the ” residents” of nuclear industry. I would think so too.

However, they are attitude was totally different. They looked at Tepco staff like looking at something filthy and disgusting. They never believed what Tepco explains and kept on making the sharpest attacks.
It wasn’t only for Tepco. Those experts also pointed out the errors in NRA data, they criticized the reluctant commitment of NRA.

I used to think the ” village people” have the tightest unity under the god of money. But it seems a little different.

[Édito] Comment l’industrie nucléaire traite Tepco
Note : Merci de lire le Fukushima Diary.

  1. Interesting,

This is somewhat SIMILAR to the YOYO status, which BP (formerly British Petroleum) received. (You’re On Your Own)

The CEO’s of SEVERAL major oil companies, stated before Congress, that the BP well architecture and operating procedures were SUBSTANDARD.

If memory serves Exxon-Mobil, Shell, Chevron & Conoco-Phillips executives made these SWORN, public statements about BP. BP has some capable, qualified people; but they did not call the shots on the Macondo Well. It is reasonable sometimes to vote someone ‘off the island’. Better for the public and better for the industry.

Perhaps, what remains of ‘Team Nuke’, are coming to their senses. Hopefully TEPCO was the worst of the lot.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Duff

Hundreds sue Toshiba, GE, Hitachi over Fukushima nuclear disaster

A landmark lawsuit has been filed against three companies that manufactured the reactors at Japan’s crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Toshiba, General Electric and Hitachi have been sued on claims that they failed to make needed safety improvements to reactors at the power plant before it was damaged in 2011’s massive tsunami.

The crippled power plant continues to leak radioactive contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean and to contaminate the environment.

The plaintiffs allege that General Electric, Toshiba and Hitachi failed to implement safety improvements to the four decades old boiling water reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant, …

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
