According to Tepco, high level of Strontium-90 is still measured in sub-drain of reactor2 and 3. The data of reactor1 is not published for some reason. The sampling date was 11/12/2012. Tepco took 6 months to publish the data. They measured 56,000 Bq/m3 of Strontium-90 from sub-drain of reactor2. They also measured 67 Bq/m3 of [...]

56,000 Bq/m3 of Strontium-90 measured from sub-drain of reactor2
Strontium-90 detected at 2 locations in 3km offshore Fukushima nuclear plant
According to Tepco, Strontium-90 was detected at 2 locations in the Pacific. 17 Bq/m3 at 3km offshore of Ukedo river. 35 Bq/m3 at 3km offshore of Fukushima daini nuclear plant. The sampling dates are early April of 2013. About this measurement, Tepco commented, “Although Sr-90 was detected supposedly as a result of this accident, [...]
Plutonium-239/240 detected from 2 discharge channels and 3km offshore of Fukushima nuclear plant
According to Tepco, Plutonium-239/240 were detected at 3 locations around Fukushima nuclear plant. The sampling dates are early April of 2013. 0.013 Bq/m3 from North of reactor5&6 discharge channel. 0.0014 Bq/m3 from around south discharge channel. 0.0057 Bq/m3 from 3km offshore of Fukushima nuclear plant. As to the detection of Plutonium-239/240 in 3km offshore of [...]
Cs-134:137 ratio of reactor3 sub-drain is 91.3% on 5/20/2013
According to Tepco, Cs-134:137 ratio of reactor3 sub-drain is unusually high. The half-life of Cs-134 is 2 years, the one of Cs-137 is 30.1 years. From the samples of 5/20/2013, the Cs-134:137 ratio of reactor1 sub-drain was 41.94 %, the one of reactor2 sub-drain was 46.34 %, where the ratio of reactor3 sub-drain was 91.30 [...]
[Underground penetration] All β detected from 2 more observation holes of reservoir No.2, “Max as 380,000 Bq/m3″
On 5/21/2013, Fukushima Diary reported, “[Major leakage] All β nuclide detected in 1.5 m from reservoir No.2 [URL]” According to Tepco, all β was detected from 2 more observation holes. In total, Tritium was detected from 3 holes at North East corner of reservoir No.2. Samples were taken on 5/22/2013. The highest reading was 380,000 [...]
[Major leakage] Tritium detected from 13 of 14 observation holes, “To be discharged to the sea”
Having the contaminated water keep increasing, Tepco is running out of the storage. Tepco made 7 reservoirs, but so far, Tepco has admitted 3 of them are leaking. In order to investigate how far the leaking contaminated water is penetrating underground, Tepco is analyzing ground water of observation holes and bypass wells. According to Tepco, [...]
Sr-90 detected 6 times much as safety limit from seawater of water intake
According to Tepco, 170,000 Bq/m3 of Sr-90 was measured from seawater. Density Limit Specified by the Reactor Regulation is 30,000 Bq/m3. The measurement reading is 5.7 times much as the density limit. The sampling location is north of reactor 1-4 water intake. Also, 120,000 Bq/m3 of Tritium was measured. ↓ The location of water [...]
[Major leakage] All β nuclide detected in 1.5 m from reservoir No.2
According to Tepco, all β nuclides were detected from the outside of reservoir No.2 Tepco is running out of contaminated water storage facility. They made 7 underground reservoirs, but some of them ended up leaking to underground. So far, Tepco has admitted 3 of them are officially leaking. On 5/2/2013, Tepco announced they were going [...]
Sr-90 in Fukushima nuclear plant significantly increasing, Max as 127 times much within 8 months in 2012
On 5/21/2013, Fukushima Diary reported “Plutonium in Fukushima nuclear plant significantly increasing ,Max as 632% within 8 months of 2012 [URL]” According to Tepco, Strontium-90 (half-life, 29.1 y) is also in the increasing trend. The sample is dry soil. They take samples in the ground (500m WNW from reactor 1&2 stacks in parentheses), Yachounomori (500m [...]
Radioactive debris of Fukushima nuclear plant to start overflowing the storage by 2015, Tepco has no detailed plan
According to Tepco, they are going to run out of the storage for highly radioactive debris in Fukushima nuclear plant by 2015. Currently the volume of debris produced from decommissioning Fukushima nuclear plant is 199,000 tones. 176,000 tones of debris will be newly added by 2015. Generally, 90% of the storage capacity will be full. [...]
