Anonymous NISA staff “All NISA staff escaped Fukushima plant by 3/12/2011″/”It’s meaningless for us to go back”

NISA (Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of the Ministry of Economy)’s inspectors escaped from Fukushima nuclear plant by 3/12/2011, Fukushima accident investigation committee published the report on 11/12/2014.

It was the interview report with the vice-chief of NISA inspectors, which is listed as “anonymous”.

From the report, this interviewee and 2 other inspectors left Fukushima plant for offsite center just after 311. 4 other inspectors and 1 assistant were told to remain in the plant, however they all moved to the offsite center the next day.

It is reported that they judged it by themselves for the increasing radiation level in the plant area.

Having all the NISA inspectors evacuated Fukushima plant, Kaieda, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry at this time said “It is irrational that none of the NISA staff is in the plant on emergency.”

After all, 4 of the inspectors were sent back to Fukushima plant but one of them complained “NISA inspectors wouldn’t be able to do anything in the plant. Why do we have to go back ?” to be convinced by the chief.

The report also reveals that the NISA inspectors had no means but walking to move from Fukushima plant to the offsite center because they used to move by taxi all the time. Also, this anonymous staff complains there was no other emergency provisions but curry at the offsite center, so he had to eat curry for three times a day.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
