Radiation levels spiked up with M4.6 in 3 municipalities of Fukushima

From NRA (Nuclear Regulation Authority)’s real time monitoring data (Graphs attached below), radiation levels spiked up when the earthquake occurred.

The area is Southern part of Fukushima prefecture. 3 municipalities experienced the rapid increase of the atmospheric dose up to 54%.

 

The increase started around 16:30 and had the peak when M4.6 occurred. It went back to the normal level around 19:00.

 

Observing the spikes in 3 municipalities in the same area of Fukushima, it can be difficult to judge it was merely a malfunction of the monitoring posts.

There is a possibility that small quakes have been occurring before M4.6 hit and those lead to the increase in the radiation level.

 

However Tepco hasn’t announced any abnormality about the plant status.

Selon les données de surveillance en temps réel de la NRA (Nuclear Regulation Authority), il y a eu un pic de radioactivité au moment du séisme (Graphiques ci-dessous).
C’est dans la région Sud de la préfecture de Fukushima. 3 municipalités ont vu rapidement monter leur radioactivité ambiante jusqu’à 54%.

Le pic a été amorcé vers 16:30 et il correspond au moment du séisme M4.6. C’est revenu à la normale vers 19:00.

En examinant les pics des 3 municipalités de la même région de Fukushima, il est difficile de déterminer s’il y a eu dysfonctionnement des bornes de surveillance.
Il est possible que de petits séismes se soient produits avant ce M4,6 et qu’ils soient à l’origine de ce pic de radioactivité.

Tepco n’a néanmoins pas annoncé de problème particulier quant à l’état de la centrale.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
