In the press conference of 10/25/2013, Tepco’s spokesman announced the reactor4 fuel removal will continue until December of 2014.

M7.1 hit Fukushima plant on 10/26/2013. It is not known if the removal system can resist the quakes and Tsunami during the operation.




I reject the international mass media to read this site without taking a contact with me.I know some of the mass media corporations read Fukushima Diary to understand the trend so they know when to report about Fukushima as if they were independently following it for a long time.
In short, they make you individual readers pay for this site while they pay nothing, and when they publish the “authorized news”, you pay for the “secondhand news”, which is nothing new for us.
This site is free for the individual readers, but not for corporations.In the world, this site is nearly the only source about Fukushima. I came here alone without any supporting organizations, background or anything. I’m not pleased to be exploited by the corporations that didn’t even properly report about Fukushima when 311 took place. I demand them to take a contact with me BEFORE reading this site whatever the purpose is.

Au cours de la conférence de presse du 25 octobre 2013, le porte-parole de Tepco a déclaré que le retrait des combustibles du réacteur 4 se prolongera jusqu’en décembre 2014.
Un séisme M7,1 a frappé la centrale de Fukushima le 26 octobre 2013. On ne sait pas si le système de retrait est capable de résister aux séismes et aux tsunamis pendant les opérations.


J’interdis à la grande presse internationale de lire et d’utiliser ce site sans préalablement prendre contact avec moi. Je sais que certaines grandes sociétés de presse lisent le Fukushima Diary pour comprendre la tendance et trouver quand rendre compte de la situation de Fukushima comme s’ils la suivaient indépendamment depuis longtemps.
En résumé, ils vous font payer à vous, simples lecteurs, ce qu’ils prennent gratuitement dans ce site et lorsqu’ils publient des “nouvelles de première main” vous payez pour des “nouvelles resucées”, qui n’ont rien de nouveau pour nous.
Ce site est gratuit pour les lecteurs individuels, pas pour les sociétés. Ce site est pratiquement la seule source au monde sur Fukushima. Je viens ici seul sans aucun soutien d’organisation quelconque, ni références, ni rien. Experts say that Tepco alone can’t manage it, not even the Japanese government, they say that a world coordination between the best engineers and scientists is the only way to guarantee the security.

    The fuel rods aren’t in place due to the earthquake, some of them are deformed, they must always be wrapped with liquid without direct contact with oxygen’s atmosphere, the pool is heavily damaged, the area is so contaminated that the crane will be operated remotely. And the main problem with Tepco seems to be that technical decisions aren’t taken by engineers but by business managers, People who believe in God must pray and pray.

    1. Now that the crane is repaired the operation to transfer spent fuel rods to dry cask storage will be no more dangerous than at any other facility.

      The pool is not damaged. It does have some debris in it.

      The fuel rods are not damaged. They are sitting in their racks as you can plainly see in the photos.

      After sitting in the pools for more than 2 years they are cool enough that water cooling is no longer required.

      2. You seem to have missed some information, much of what you have to say is not correct.

        The crane is not repaired – it can not be repaired and will not be repaired. Indeed, much of the crane is in the pool with the fuel. The reason that TEPCO built the new structure attached to Unit 4 is to empty the pool. The entire cantilever structure was built because an entirely new crane is required. This is not a structure that would have been built if TEPCO had any other options.

        The new crane is not indexed to the pool, as the old one was, so it is not able to exactly locate the hoist points for the fuel. All of the work that was previously robotic and automatic will now have to be done manually. There is also all of the debris in the pool to be removed, again this must be done manually. This manual crane operation and debris removal is nothing like ‘any other facility,’ and will be much more dangerous.

        The pool and the fuel are damanged, both have been exposed to salt water. TEPCO built a support sturcture under the pool, the pool is still not operating normally. There is no photo, or series of photos that shows the mechanical/chemical conditions of the fuel, as such, there is no way that the photo(s) can clearly show a lack of damage.

        The reactor was shut down for refueling at the time of the explosion. The pool contains enough fuel to operate a nuclear power plant, even 2 years later. The fuel in the pool, without active cooling, can easily boil water. This will lower the water level in the pool. Eventually the fuel rods will become exposed. The outer coating of the fuel rods will burn when exposed to air. The rods are not even close to being at the point of no longer requiring liquid cooling, and even then they must not be exposed to air.

        None of your statments are correct. It is not impossible that all the fuel will be moved from the pool without any incident, but the number of ways to fail are without limit, while there is only 1 chance to do everything correctly.

        You must have missed the photos of “poolium” flowing out the side of the building, too.
        Also note from FOI information that KI pills are allegedly worthless against Spent Fuel Pool releases.

        If it is so safe, why don’t you go and work there, Diemos (a Greek word for dread)?

You may wish to reconsider any long-term spats with friends, family, neighbors and/or Creator; at this time. If you live in Japan; ‘do you feel lucky?’

    The temporal plans are fairly straightforward. Your evacuation plans should point toward South America, Australia, South Africa or perhaps Florida. The safest USA location is American Samoa. Change the air filters in your home, car and office. Begin taking double/triple mineral/vitamins, until you begin to pee bright yellow. Purchase KI or topical (povidone) iodine. It is skin adsorbant, in the event of ANOTHER fissioning event, in Fukushima. Eat Gulf Shrimp, Maine Lobster and fish/shellfish from the Atlantic, Carribean and/or Gulf of Mexico. Face masks, room filters, duct tape, food-staples and WATER are your essential survival gear.

    There is no hurry. There will be a six day travel time from Fukushima to the USA West Coast, in the event of ‘an event’. Your key to evacuate ASAP, is the oft-repeated phrase … ‘There is no immediate danger to the public’. Barack Obama and his family will be taking Bo to a ‘long scheduled’ event, south of the Equator. Congress will play endless looping hearings on CSPAN, but the members will actually be ‘hunkered down’ somewhere.

        Japan is playing at the ‘big stakes table’. Their ancestral homeland and future survival of the Nipponese, are the wager. TEPCO will begin to throw the dice in about 2.5 weeks.

        Let’s consider the extent of the Spent Fuel damages and sequela.

        There were numerous fires in the Fukushima Daiichi Spent Fuel Pools, particularly including FDNPP SFP-4. That translates to porphyritic (spontaneous combustion) zircalloy fires. Temperatures of 9,000 degrees Farenheit were reported. Such temperatures are consistent with a number of metals burning, including uranium and cesium. I presume, from the observed Fukushima particles that plutonium is included in the list.

        Some of these fused radioactive particles sourced from the Atomic Explosion in the FDU-3 reactor, and were scattered across a thousand square miles of Honshu Island. It is well within the realm of possibility, that the porphyritic conflagrations in SPF-4 contributed similar fused nuclear fuel emissions, with various particle sizes.

    My recommendation for you is to republish the website as headlines only with access to content only for subscribed individuals. This does not mean you need to charge subscribers to see content, only that they are registered so you know who they are, or who they work for.

    Great advice, however I personally wouldn’t be choosing and seafood or shellfish particularly gulf shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico. I have read that there have been abnormalities in the shrimp and probably lots of bioaccumulated toxins from the oil and chemicals(corexit).
    Sad,what humans have/are doing to this planet. 🙁

    1. Relatively clean dietary sources of Iodine are important in the wake of fission events.

      Play the odds, not the feelings.

      Everything that a kid wants to do is the absolute WORST thing to do, in a nuclear contamination event.

  5. Windex, Alcohol wipes, hand-cleaner and lint-remover tape will reduce the radionuclides that will stick to you, everywhere you go.

    Baggies taped over the kid’s shoes and mittens, will reduce contamination.

    Rinse and then soak, if possible, any questionable food. The cesium, strontium and iodine will mostly go down the drain. Baking soda, added to the water, will help soak out the poisons from vegetables and fruits.

    Well water, RO Water and distilled water are best. Bottled spring water is probably OK. Filtered water is better than nothing. Even a coffee filter or paper towel will reduce the contamination level substantially, in known contaminated water.

    Zeolyte is a good thing, but should mostly be fed to livestock, not people.

    Begin to watch food date codes. You can probably get an Iphone AP or a decoder on the internet. Old food, except for 2011 food, is safer than fresh food. White (polished) rice is safer than brown rice. Skip the mushrooms, tuna, salmon and the fresh dairy (after the 1st week or so). Aged cheese (mild then, medium (6-months), sharp (1 year) & extra-sharp (2 years – so avoid until after 2013 from the last Fukushima radiation release.)

    Survival is a numbers game. Play the percentages. Avoid stupidity and panic. Avoid idiots!

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
