  1. Yes, Well said Raymond… For those who understand Japanese , it`s a great report!!

Mochizuki san, why don`t you put a small summary of what you said in English?!

Also – do you know or have any statistics of how many Japanese people follow your site?
I have forwarded your site to various Japanese friends of mine but everyone ignores it…

    1. I get the same treatment Isabel even from lifelong friends in Japan. Really saddens me. I am and for ever will be a ‘flyjin’ to them. Fair enough. I have learned a lot about one aspect of human nature due to this disaster. People, even close friends, don’t like to be told their perfect world is not perfect any more. If the situation is serious and they know it, they will drop you without giving it a second thought. Were my friends in Japan really that stupid? hmmmmmmm

  2. Well,in Japan it’s business as usual. Everyone is acting normally. And everything LOOKS normal. So it’s easy to just go on living your life.

I do have Japanese friends who are very interested in this blog. I post links on facebook sometimes and they express interest. However, because it is mainly written in English, it’s too difficult for them to read and understand, so they turn to other sources.

  3. There needs to be more translation of the English info for the Japanese visitors. Otherwise there is going to remain a pretty big communication problem with Japanese being stuck with their biased internal media sources for information/news.

  4. It’s something to think about for how Mochizuki-san is reaching the intended audience.

With these news points, a note might be good so non-Japanese speaking audience could understand what it’s about.

Further, yes, life there seemingly goes on like normal…for now.
I just saw a live broadvast on television of an international triathlon held in Yokohama today. Those athletes were swimming in Tokyo bay water and then cycling and running in the rain, just like nothing had happened.

  5. Yes, so imagine how difficult it is for wives/mothers in Tokyo to convince their husbands to move. For most it’s impossible because life is going on as normal.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
