Neptunia’s Great Wave, a preschool Faerie Tale

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away there lived a wizard, by the name of Tepico. Tepico was a very important and powerful wizard. He was so clever that he became a ‘Dragon Master’, which is very special indeed. Tepico brought good things to the biggest city, in all the world. Tepico provided electricity to light the lights in the homes, schools and stores of a very grand city. Tepico was very clever had a very important job with many apprentices and helpers.

All the people and all the leaders, and even the Emperor trusted Tepico. Tepico was very pleased with himself. In fact, He was a little bit too pleased with himself. Tepico began to think that he was Number One (Ichiban) and sometimes spelled his name Tep1co. He used the number one (1) a lot. He even called his dragon den, in the distant province Number 1. He was very proud and a little bit lazy. Tepico began to consider himself more important than all the people and even more important than all the ministers of the Emperor. Soon the vanity of Tepico caused him to tell lies; become greedy, and do many very wicked things.

Tepico knew all about Neptunia, the wild and powerful dragon, who lived deep in the sea. Neptunia can whip her tail and create waves taller than the tallest house. In fact, Neptunia has made 50’ (15 M) waves many times in the past. Neptunia can be very dangerous when she is angry.

All the children know that Tepico began to mistreat his Number 1 (dai-ichi) dragons. Tepico also began to taunt Neptunia. Tepico said that Neptunia had become old and weak and could not make big waves anymore. And Tepico also told this lie about Neptunia to all the people. And many of the people believed Tepico, because he was a very clever wizard, and very important and rich.

Tepico did not want to spend his money to build proper seawalls, because he had become lazy and very greedy. And Tepico would not allow any of his dragons to attend Neptunias birthday party on 311. And so Neptunia was very angry and whipped her tail very hard. And the giant waves swept all across the Kingdom of Nipponia and no one was prepared because they listened to the lies of Tepico. It was very sad. The bridges fell down and many boats sank. Many people were washed out to sea and never seen again. Worst of all the Dai Ichi walls came tumbling down and the dragons F1DU, F2DU and F3DU escaped. The three dragons were very angry, because of their mistreatment, by the foolish and evil Tepico.

And all the children of Nipponia were very sad! Their schools were closed. The little boys and girls could not go outside and play. Their food became poisonous and their water became too dangerous to drink. Many were sick and had to leave their homes. The air became foul. The birds were too weak to fly or even finish their songs. The angry dragon F3DU and his sisters F1DU and F2DU scorched all the land. It was all very, very sad.

    The END

Deformation is continuing after the quake. Although it’s calmed down quite a bit now, huge swaths of red (uplift) and aqua blue (subsidence) occurred after this quake – unusual? Possibly there’s another quake in the chute- :( Please stay safe in Tokyo!
