[Column] Fukushima Diary is not a public bin of frustration

Now everything is in the mess. Nobody knows what to do. No one knows where to go.

So I took the most indubitable choice -evacuation.

I have loads to say for people remaining in Japan, but try not to speak it out. Everyone has different point of view. I’m just trying to show what I think is right by my deed.

I receive a lot of criticism and insult. They are different. The former has its “source” like my article. Sometimes they are right, helpful to improve my reporting. On the other hand, insult doesn’t even have its basis. I’m 600 times more furious against the government and massmedia than a troll is excited at me, but I’m 666 times more polite even for the authority.

For my article “[Column] 3 mysteries about the US Navy sailors’ suing Tepco [Link]”, I received this,

“You flee Japan against the wishes of your friends and family and now you are basically an outcast, yet you just can’t shake off that Japanese worker drone mentality. Whatever your intentions were, this article gives the impression that you are attacking these American sailors and defending Tepco and Japan. WTF? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Your blog has devolved into a whiny plea for hand outs. Maybe you should stay in France where that is the accepted form of behavior. But, whatever else you do, you should not jump to Tepco and Japan’s defense after all the negative things you said about them on your blog. Makes you appear quite confused about your priorities and convictions. -You whinny parasite”

(Literarily speaking, the connection of each sentence is not beautiful.)

First of all, reading someone’s report for free, without even paying adequate attention to every detail to suck up the time of the reporter is the parasitic behavior.

Internet is an enormous playground and it’s free. For the cost of being free, they steal your privacy. The privacy as tax goes to corporations and the government and after all, you must pay more to live freely. This is how it works.

I never charge on readers. I desire to spread the truth about Fukushima to all around the world. but we must know why Facebook is free.

Secondly, I’m not an outcast nor even whiny. I’m more like a whine-ee. I’m on the path to the next stage and don’t have time to report everything I am doing. Furthermore, my mind is rooted. I can stay sane even though I don’t make a disposable gmail account to troll around.

I just came up with the better use of a spam.

  1. “Maybe you should stay in France where that is the accepted form of behavior.”

I laugh at this sentence and would answer : A cliché isn’t an argument, never was, nor will be. I, as a Frenchman am deeply sad when I see that there are still people who never lived war (me either) and who are using that kind of references to judge a whole country and its residents. I was told about another type of guys who judged about “races” and called people “parasites” if you see what I mean…

That’s one of the reverse of free speech on the internet… everybody can write stuff, and mostly dumb ones 🙂

Anyway, I don’t think that you are the kind of people who are “defending” or not Tepco… You are using FACTS which PROVES that they are completely screwing up on some points and I’m pretty sure that if they were taking it on the right way, you would state the facts the same way. Maybe you are interpreting stuff from your point of view, but you are always opened to debates. And that’s why I’m following your posts daily.

    1. Hmmm , Semtex : Semtex is a general-purpose plastic explosive … Did you point to that France phrase JUST because you , allegedly , are French ?

“Maybe you should stay in France where that is the accepted form of behavior.”

What an interesting double talk , where the accent is on France … a quasi mis-direction towards the insult to French .

Hmmm , WHO did you disclosed you were in France , Iori ? Because if you didn’t post it on the Net you may need to pay attention …

On the other hand … 😉

      1. Actually, I like my nickname only because of how it sounds nothing more…
I pointed at this sentence because it reveals how bad was the rest of the troll’s text.
I don’t really like my country, no more than I like another one, I’m just born here and that’s why I can’t bear people who rank people by their country.

You don’t seem to have read the second part of my comment…

  2. Iori,

You are my hero! Thank you for the important information that you provide via the Fukushima Diary website. Don’t listen the the people who send you negative comments, they are the fools!

I live on the west coast of British Columbia in Canada. Our region has become heavily contaminated due to Fukushima fallout but our government is hiding the truth from all Canadians. Nobody is aware of what is actually happening here because our media doesn’t cover this subject whatsoever.

Your website is my main source of TRUSTED INFORMATION regarding the current status of the crippled reactors in Fukushima. Keep up the good work! Stay Strong!

    Scott
    (Fraser Valley, British Columbia, Canada)

  3. That’s a terrible thing being attacked for devoting yourself to TRUTH!

Perhaps they are taking out their own secret fears on you as they must know by now that their health is at grave risk by being in Japan. Before many may have told themselves “I am safe” because I am not next to Fukushima.
Now it is apparent all of Japan is being poisoned.

This may soon repeat in North America and Europe as delayed effects from air borne radiation beging to have an impact. First reaction will probably be lots of denial and a lot of anger at anyone talking about it.

  4. The genius insults France… shows he’s one of the typical uneducated Americans who has no clue what happened during WW2.

Take these criticisms with a grain of salt and keep up the good work. For every ignorant comment there are a hundred of us who rely on your site for information.

  5. You are great!
Please keep going and post all of the Japanese ” Mass-gomi” B.S. ( excuse me for using these words).

We are for you all the way.
    Thanks.

    本当に感謝してます。
    頑張ってね。❤

  6. First of all, let me thank you again for what you, inimitably and scrupulously and relentlessly do, that is report the truth.

I would be bothered if people attacked my work, with or without reason; hard to say which would be worse. But trolls are everywhere, you can spot them coming out from under the bridge. The earth is peopled with people with anger hate foreboding fear desperation etc. Any public (or not) figure will do when they need an outlet. No sense getting worked up.

Thank you for keeping your work free of this type of fear rage hate frustration etc.

  7. As far as I can tell, the criticism contained no specific references to the article in question. I think that, by default, renders it an invalid argument.

  8. What is is what is. go forward not back. Personally, I think you did the right thing. don’t let critics effect you. Who knows what their motive is. There are alot of paid trolls on the web that try to discredit folk and stir up controversy. Some may come to your site.

  9. I agree. It was a personal attack against Lori, therefore = paid troll.

Don’t pay them any mind lori. When all this draws to a final conclusion, whatever that may be, you and by your efforts, Fukushima Dairy have found your place in history.

  10. Wow, that reeks of blind american patriotism.
I already had to deal with this kind of kids proud of their army, labelling french people as weak and traitors, they don’t have a clue about what they’re talking about.

  11. I just want to say that this article is excellent, there are moments of real inspiration in the way you write, Mr. Mochizuki. It seems you have finally found what you were born to do. If you are indeed living in France, enjoy. It is a beautiful place.

Out there are simply some very frightened trolls who are powerless to vent their frustrations any other way, but have figured out how to connect to the internet bless them.

It’s okay, little ignorant Francophobe troll, someone cares about you!……
A BIG HUG FROM THE TROLLHUNTER! 😉

  12. Don’t think this was trolling activity. His mail reeks of ‘expat sheeple’ trying to justify his own decision to remain in Japan. Just ignore fools like this Mochizuki.

    1. Tepco is paying people to troll this site, enenews and ex-skf amongst others.

Lori found 2 IDs from Skip and Sandy in California that traced back to Tepco JP.

  13. We all are in the same boat! The fukushima monster has the power to effect all of us humans. Let’s not label each other. We need to educate, prepare and protect ourselves with nutritional supplements like Vit. C and Circumin.
I try telling people about the disaster and the health effects for North America and people go cross eyed!
I am fleeeing from North America to Chile. I know it will come down there but the move might give me 5 or 10 more years to live and educate.

I love my fellow aware and awake peeps.
I listen to Jeff Rense ( http://rense.com/ ) Jeff With Yoichi Shimatsu (Japan Update) and Michael Collins Radiation Update.

  14. … and folks , don’t forget to donate to Iori , he needs to be able to dedicate his time to expose the truth .

BTW Iori , if you trace the IPs of people commenting here to TEPCO or any other organization go ahead and engage the troll , conducting careful questioning of the troll can reveal the agenda behind .

Have a happy new year all !

  15. You are brave to spread information on the hard reality in Japan that hardly no one would like to hear…..

  16. Don’t let the dumb things people say get you wound up lori-ignore them and eventually they implode from their own BS like GE BWR’s! But I saw the “Skip & Sandy” TEPCO jp expose` and “PAID” trolls and thought Hmm,maybe somebody could get in on that action and play them for fools while channeling the proceed$ right into Fukushima Diary’s “piggy-bank”??! LOL!! I guess their actions are a great way to gauge success!! You must be doing things right for them to play childish little baby-games??!!LOL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
    ~ 🙂 ~

  17. Dear mister,

I would like to thank you for your blog that I read every day. I was three years old when Tchrnobyl happened however the medias lied hidding the coming of the nuclear cloud into France. Living near of Germany, my family have been informed by listening of german medias to stay at home the day of the passing of the radioactiv cloud. It shows that for years nuclear industry lies to the popuation and how much the work of independant journalists is important.

About this site

This website updates the latest news about the Fukushima nuclear plant and also archives the past news from 2011. Because it's always updated and added live, articles, categories and the tags are not necessarily fitted in the latest format.
I am the writer of this website. About page remains in 2014. This is because my memory about 311 was clearer than now, 2023, and I think it can have a historical value. Now I'm living in Romania with 3 cats as an independent data scientist.
Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
