209,695 Bq/Kg of cesium from the dust of a smoking area in Tochigi

High level of cesium was measured from the dust of a smoking area in Haga machi Tochigi on 12/26/2012.

The smoking area is about 9 m2, a packed space. It was abandoned during 2011, it has been used as a storage room.
The dust was taken from the vent hole of the smoking area.

Cs-134 : 81,091.8 Bq/kg
Cs-137 : 128,604.1 Bq/kg
Total : 209,695.9 Bq/kg

Le 26 décembre 2012, de hauts niveaux de césium ont été relevés dans les poussières d’une salle d’enfumage d’Haga machi, dans Tochigi.

La zone enfumée fait environ 9m², un endroit confiné. Elle avait été abandonnée en 2011, utilisée ensuite comme espace de stockage.
La poussière a été prise au niveau du trou d’aération de l’enfumage.

Actually, nothing has progressed in the plant since 2011. We still don't even know what is going on inside. They must keep cooling the crippled reactors by water, but additionally groundwater keeps flowing into the reactor buildings from the broken parts. This is why highly contaminated water is always produced more than it can circulate. Tepco is planning to officially discharge this water to the Pacific but Tritium is still remaining in it. They dilute this with seawater so that it is legally safe, but scientifically the same amount of radioactive tritium is contained. They say it is safe to discharge, but none of them have drunk it.
