In 300km area from Fukushima plant, variety of mutated cicadas were observed.
It’s also reported that the hatching time was from late July to the end of August, which is longer than usual to end by mid August.
Also, female rate was unusually high, which was 60~70%.

Yes, people, like me, in Japan, will have children, in order to celebrate life.
Spoke to my father who is a consulting entomologist internationally and has worked extensively in Japan. He has pre-fukushima samples of these cicadas. His words below;
“Now – I know this cicada species from japan – I have some specimens myself
with the same “growths on the abdomen” which are the noise machine for singing, known as tympani
Deformed wings are common in cicadas; depends on how they emerged from the soil.
and the “leg out of the head” could be exactly the way the photo was taken: the leg touching the head and drying up in that starnge position

I find myself rather jealous of the little guy with the head-leg…..Although…while it would make puting your foot in your mouth way easier……an impromptu face-palm could prove fatal.
