They’ve had TONS of time to sort this out. It’s been one year and nine months for Christ sake.
Pull your fingers out and try this:
1/. Pile drive some upright H profile steel beams vertically into the ground around the #4 building
2/. Using a crane, Drop into the H slots some prestressed concrete panels similar to those used for noise abatement adjacent expressways.to create new outer walls around the building, using the uprights as support.
(Pre fit steel T sections to the interior of all introduced concrete panels to assist in consolidation.)
3/. Pour concrete inside the new barrier, up to the top of the first panel. Allow this to set. The concrete covers the T sections to consolidate each concrete panel.
4/. Drop in another row of panels fitted with T sections. Pour concrete and repeat until the building is a solid earthquake/waterproof block.
5/. Give me a shipyard full of decent welders and some materials, a pile driver and a few cranes and I’ll have the damn thing up and set in three weeks…..jeez.
I’m surprised about Japan leaving Tepco lack of money leading them to avoid any “expensive” attempt at improving the situation of Fukushima nuclear power plant.
Seen from abroad it looks like the ridiculous idea this could help to conceal the extent of Fukushima disaster (On the contrary USSR initial (though failled) attempts to master its nuclear plant disaster were obvious…)
Not only Fukushima inhabitants must stay in polluted areas but the money expense level for that must be keept low as a proof that nuclear power reactors are the best energy crisis solution?
This should not be left to TEPCO to solve.. but it is a national emergency… TEPCO should have been nationalized on March 12… and Fukushima over-sight should have been put into military control with direct chain of command away from shareholders and politics.

or the quake shattered the bedrock and it’s not easily fixed.
its an easy fix… all they have to do…find 100000+ men and get in there to do suicide missions… remove them with man power
I hope this photographer is not exaggerating- if this building falls, we will have very bad situation and Japan could almost cease as a a nation as people, intellect, and capital will go into flight. OMG

Sorry, I was just busy following after all the news. Everything is handled only by myself.
The Jgovt wants to save money?….how about these apples….if #4 topples, the fuel burns, then nobody NOBODY can get near the site anymore because of direct radiation and skyshine. No more repairs to leaky pipes, no more nitrogen injections. So what happens then?….sympathetic detonations….#1 through to #6…..it’s been suggested that there are 8000 tons of fuel in various forms and states at the site. Eight thousand tons !!! To put that in context, there was 200kgs in the Hiroshima bomb. Want a moment to go back and read that again?
I was reading yesterday where if the lot went off, it would create a crater 14 Kms wide and 4 Kms deep. The resultant tsunami that would strike the west coast of America was estimated at 60-80 metres.
I dont know anything about about this stuff, ive just read it amongst the various news sites, but its obvious that We need to stop sitting on our hands and actually DO something. You can’t put a dollar sign on this. This will affect everyone and everything on the planet. What’s the point of keeping it a secret.?
We can raise money for starving children with one hand tied behind our backs…..we can put together millions to help Haiti…billions to assist after a major tsunami, but seemingly NOTHING to help ourselves as a SPECIES.
